Leticia Huerta, Prayer
San Antonio, Texas artist Leticia Venegas Huerta earned her first bachelors degree in biology at St. Mary's University in San Antonio. She then went on to pursue art by earning a B.F.A. in painting at the University of Texas in San Antonio, and an M.F.A. at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. Of this print, Huerta says the center image is from a photograph, a self-portrait taken some time ago. The roses are an image that she has used before, referring to womanhood. This print refers to death, grief, sickness, age, and prayers.
