Mariana Castro de Ali

I find myself without voice. As a woman, as an immigrant, as a brown person...the art is my voice. Through my work I merge my experiences with daily elements of my personal life such as tampons, threads, and common conversations. I include profane and sacred elements to create a dialogue that invokes strong emotions and stirs the intellect. I work in various media; painting, sculpture, installations, sound and video. My work is simple and provocative. I blend my intellect and body to contribute with
conscious energy towards these creative pieces that portray my desire to interrupt the stereotypes around gender, belief and race.
