Space Intervention

Almanza and Castro, internationally known for their non-traditional sculptural forms and sound experimentation, extend their artistic vision to "space intervention".
Space intervention (also known as spatial intervention) is the manipulation of an existing architectural composition through the introduction of audio and visual elements. This new form of artistic media relies on the viewer's senses to alter the space through their own exploration.
The exhibit will be open for viewing the following dates:

Tuesday, June 8, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. and 5 – 8 p.m.

Location: 1655 Beverly Blvd./Los Angeles CA 90026

Tropico de Nopal and San Francisco based spoken word artists Tom's Riley and Leticia Hernandez team up to present an evening of multidisciplinary performance and spoken word on Saturday, June 5th, 2004. Neither poetry slam nor literary lecture Tango de Poesia II: Un Flor y Canto de Amor ignores the staid trappings of the 'poetry reading' offering live music, dj's, poets, and storytellers that respond to social themes and conditions through word, song and performance. Organizer Tom's Riley explains, "We envision a poetry gathering, one that honors the tradition and spirit of the flor y canto as oral celebration. We're calling it the Tango de Poesia to emphasize the 'dance with words' that is poetry. Really it's a poetry party for the love of the spoken word."
