Charles William Johnson, in collaboration with Jorge Luna Martínez, will present for the first time a video animation of the Aztec Calendar. The animation is the result of thirteen years of study of the math and geometry in ancient artwork of the Aztecs and Maya, as well as other peoples of the ancient world. Some of these findings may be viewed on the web-site, www.earthmatrix.com, Earth/matriX: Science in Ancient Artwork. The presentation of the animation will be accompanied by Mexica Dances performed by Miguel Gutierrez and Shanti Kumari. Limited seating; reserve early; student discount.

Hace dos veranos, durante mi estadia en el las tierras altas del norte de
california, los bosques de Sequoias, inspiro una coleccion de obras con el
nombre de "La Hermandad de la Sequoia." Influenciado por el lugar, utilice este tiempo para pensar en conceptos tales como "vision, " "percepcion" y "perspectiva, " y descubrir las implicaciones filosoficas que pudiera tener la busqueda de el tiempo/soledad en mi. Emprendi una tarea estetica del "Buscar y Encontrar" un viaje pictorico en un compromiso mas profundo con mi proceso como artista y algunas nuevas ideas sobre los conceptos de "el destino, " "destino" e "identidad." Ahora presento esta coleccion de pinturas por primera vez en Guadalajara.

As an artist who is profoundly conscious of the importance of ecology and the need to care for nature, Alvarado-Juarez has exhibited artwork dealing with this theme for more than a decade in museums and galleries in the United States, Canada, Spain, Hungary and Mexico. Alvarado-Juarez's exhibition at Casa de las Monas will include recent work: a series of paintings titled "Secrets of Flora and Fauna"; a photography collection titled "By the Shore of the Hudson: Manhattan"; and literary texts focusing on the themes of love and nature.
