Exhibition Dates: November 10 - January 5, 2008
Artist Reception: Saturday, November 10, 5PM - 8PM
Patricia Correia Gallery is pleased to present No Means Yes, an exhibit of new work by internationally recognized contemporary artist Mark Kostabi. This is the artist’s first solo exhibition at the gallery.
For a quarter-century, Mark Kostabi has delighted art connoisseurs with aesthetic masterpieces while challenging conventional concepts of authorship and what it means to be an artist. The controversy Kostabi created in the 1980s when he announced that paid studio assistants did the majority of the work on his art was a bookend paired with Marcel Duchamp’s masterstroke works assailing convention and taste at the other end of the 20th century.
With countless television appearances and a voluminous bibliography in popular and professional media, Kostabi is an art world household name. Beyond the artist’s radical conceptual approach, the work’s obvious influences range from DiChirico and Stuart Davis to the minimal branding of classic American Pop Art.

George Yepes
Patricia Correia Gallery
2525 Michigan Ave., E-2
Santa Monica, California 90404
310.264.1760
Exhibition Dates: November 10 - January 5, 2008
Artist Reception: Saturday, November 10, 5PM - 8PM
Patricia Correia Gallery is proud to present recent works by contemporary painter George Yepes in his third solo exhibition at the gallery.
Yepes’ marriage of Mexican and European art histories, mythologies, and archetypal forms create for a decidedly distinctive style of painting. His highly recognizable treatment of painting in monumental format calls upon classical master works by Tiepolo and Rubens for inspiration. His modern portraits, comprised of hundreds of delicate overlays that weave words and imagery throughout each composition, fuse together the sensuality of Klimt with the unabashed severity of graphic novels.
George Yepes has exhibited both nationally and internationally in venues such as the Kulterhuset Stockholm Museum, Stockholm, Sweden; The National Museum of Mexican Art, Chicago, IL; and L’Espace Lyonnais d’ Art Contemporain, Lyon, France. In 2007, he participated in the Los Pintores de Aztlan exhibition in La Casa Encendida, Madrid, Spain, which focused on contemporary Chicano art.
